At the 11th European Stroke Organisation Conference (ESOC) in Helsinki, Dr. Philipp Bücke, MD, MSc, from the University Hospital Bern, discussed the evolving role of MRI in the diagnosis of transient ischemic attacks (TIAs).
Dr. Bücke noted that MRI has emerged as the preferred imaging modality for patients presenting with TIA symptoms, as it offers superior sensitivity compared to computed tomography (CT) in distinguishing TIAs from ischemic strokes.
This shift in diagnostic practice enhances the accuracy of TIA diagnosis and helps guide appropriate treatment and secondary prevention strategies.
