Ashkan Shoamanesh: OCEANIC-STROKE Focus on Stroke Subtypes and Response to Asundexian at ISC26
Ashkan Shoamanesh, Associate Professor of Medicine (Neurology), Marta and Owen Boris Chair in Stroke Research and Care at McMaster University, shared on LinkedIn:
”It was a pleasure to discuss the results of our secondary analyses of the OCEANIC-STROKE trial focused on qualifying ischemic stroke subtype and response to asundexian with Video Journal of Neurology (VJNeurology) at ISC26.
Our results demonstrate consistency in the treatment effect of asundexian irrespective of underlying etiology, including robust reductions in ischemic stroke in patients with qualifying stroke due to small vessel occlusive disease (HR 0.61, 95%CI 0.46-0.81) and embolic stroke of undetermined source (HR 0.53, 95%CI 0.37-0.78), without excess in major bleeding or intracranial hemorrhage!
Eagerly awaiting approval of asundexian for the betterment of stroke prevention in our patients with non-cardioembolic ischemic stroke or high-risk TIA.”
