Chris Hillis, Vice President Oncology Interim and JHCC Site Executive,Chief of Oncology at Hamilton Health Sciences, Associate Professor at McMaster University Hamilton Ontario Canada, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“I’m proud to spotlight the newly updated Choosing Wisely Canada – Hematology recommendations. These evidence-based guidance developed by the Canadian Hematology Society to support thoughtful, high-value hematology care. These recommendations help clinicians and patients question practices that may not improve care and could cause harm or unnecessary cost.
Highlights include: judicious use of IVIG, evidence-based transfusion practice, and a personal favourite (vendetta): to not do an FNA when lymphoma is suspected.
I encourage colleagues across disciplines to explore these recommendations and think critically about how they apply in your practice settings.
Together, we can ensure hematology care that is safer, smarter, and more sustainable.
