”In Uttar Pradesh alone, with a beta thalassemia carrier rate of 3–4% and ~4.8 million annual births, it is estimated that 1,000–2,000 children with β-thalassemia major are born each year.
The number increases to 10,000–12,000 estimated births per year for India.
At UP HEMATOCON, we discussed strengthening comprehensive thalassemia care — from screening and prevention to advanced therapies and BMT.
