“Advancing Equity in Hemostasis: From Resolution to Real Impact
The recent initiative highlighted by the World Federation of Hemophilia marks a pivotal moment in global health policy.
The proposed World Health Assembly Resolution on — ‘Global Action to Advance Health Equity for People with Hemophilia and Other Bleeding Disorders’ — is not merely a declaration.
It is a structural commitment to transforming care systems worldwide.
As a clinician and policy advocate working in hemostasis, I see three critical dimensions of this resolution:
- Recognition of Unmet Diagnostic Gaps
Across many regions, bleeding disorders remain underdiagnosed—particularly in women and in mild phenotypes. Strengthening laboratory infrastructure and standardization is no longer optional; it is foundational.
- Equity in Access to Treatment
From factor replacement to innovative therapies (including non-factor treatments), disparities in access continue to define patient outcomes. This resolution reinforces the need for sustainable, nationally integrated treatment strategies.
- Systems-Level Implementation
The true value of this resolution lies in its translation into national policies-registries, clinical pathways, reimbursement systems, and workforce training.
Armenia is proud to contribute to this global movement-demonstrating how coordinated clinical expertise, policy engagement, and international collaboration can shape meaningful progress.
This is not just about hemophilia.
It is about redefining health equity in rare and inherited disorders.
The next step is clear:
From advocacy to implementation to measurable patient outcomes.”
