Anand Padmanabhan: A New Concise Nutshell Review of MGTS as an Emerging Thrombophilia
Anand Padmanabhan, Professor and Clinician-Investigator at Mayo Clinic, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
“We are excited to share our new ‘nutshell’ review on a new thrombotic condition Monoclonal Gammopathy of Thrombotic Significance (MGTS)—a concise (~1000 words) and accessible overview of this emerging thrombophilia.
Congratulations to the authors Adam Kanack, Emily Armstrong, and David Murray on this excellent work!
MGTS is a rapidly evolving entity that we first described a few years ago, and our understanding continues to grow. This review highlights three key subtypes:
- HIT-like
- VITT-like
- Non-HIT/VITT-like
Recognizing these distinct phenotypes is critical—accurate diagnosis is the first step toward appropriate, targeted treatment.
We hope this review helps clinicians and researchers better identify and manage this often debilitating disorder.
As the field evolves, we anticipate refinements in classification and management.
Feel free to reach out with questions or to discuss further.”
