Paul Bolaji: A Growing Movement to Transform Stroke Care in Africa
Paul Bolaji, Education Lead (Stroke Services) at Dorset County Hospital NHS Foundation Trust, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, adding:
”What began as a simple vision just a year ago sparked by a landmark publication in Frontiers in Neurology has grown into something truly meaningful.

Enhancing Africa’s stroke workforce to address the stroke burden: a proposal from the African’s stroke organization’s educational and training committee.
In just seven months, the ASO–WSO collaboration has reached over 1,500 participant attendances, delivering more than 15 impactful webinars across the continent and beyond.
What started as an idea is now a movement one that is educating, connecting, and transforming stroke care in real time.
Today, many of these sessions are now accessible globally through the World Stroke Academy platform ensuring that knowledge is not only shared, but sustained.
As the African proverb reminds us, ‘It takes a village to raise a child.’
This journey has truly reflected that spirit. It has taken the passion, commitment, and belief of many individuals working quietly and tirelessly behind the scenes.
My sincere appreciation goes to the World Stroke Organization and World Stroke Academy, under the tremendous leadership of Laura Ceci Galanos, for their partnership and unwavering support in turning this vision into reality.
To the Chair of the ASO Education Committee, Prof Foad Abd-Allah– thank you for your inspiring leadership and steadfast guidance.
And to the African Stroke Organization (ASO) Education Committee and ASO Executive Secretary SirAd Adams, your relentless dedication, often behind the scenes and without recognition, has been nothing short of extraordinary. Working tirelessly, seven days a week, you have helped carry this vision forward.
