Matías J Alet: Proud to Present the CAMINA Project on Argentina’s National Stroke Center Mapping at ESOC 2026

Matías J Alet, Member of Education Committee of World Stroke Organization, shared on LinkedIn:

”I had the great opportunity to participate in the European Stroke Organisation Conference 2026 (ESOC) in Maastricht.

During the conference, I presented in the symposium ‘Opportunities for improving AIS patient outcomes’, where I shared the Argentine perspective on switching to tenecteplase for acute ischemic stroke treatment.

Many thanks to Boehringer Ingelheim and Rachel Emerson-Stadler for the opportunity.

I was also proud to present the CAMINA Project, our national mapping of stroke care centers and reperfusion capacity in Argentina.

This work aims to better understand the availability of key stroke resources across the country and to identify opportunities to improve access to time-sensitive acute stroke treatments.

Thanks to Julieta Rosales, Guadalupe Bruera, Leonardo Augusto Carbonera and all the collaborators from Argentine Neurological Society.

ESOC 2026 was also a valuable opportunity to catch up and reconnect with colleagues and friends from the three cohorts of the World Stroke Organization Future Stroke Leaders Programme, and to exchange ideas and future projects for the World Stroke Academy with my friends Laura Ceci Galanos and Octavio Marques Pontes-Neto.

I also had the opportunity to discuss future collaborative projects with the International Cerebral Venous Thrombosis Consortium and Jonathan Coutinho.

As always, I am especially grateful to Sheila Cristina Ouriques Martins for her leadership and mentorship, and Angels Initiative and Belén Velázquez, MSc for their continuous support in advancing stroke care across our region and beyond.
