Ai Phi Thuy Ho: Varicose Veins Show How Blood Flow Inside the Body Affects What You See on the Skin
Ai Phi Thuy Ho, Co-Owner of Bone Health Clinic, Medical Advisor and Board Member at Rural Health Foundation, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”We’ve probably all seen them.
Those visible blue or twisted veins on the legs.
What is it?
These are called varicose veins.
They happen when the veins have trouble pushing blood efficiently back toward the heart.
Over time, blood can pool in the veins…making them enlarge and become more visible.
For some people, it’s mostly cosmetic
For others, it can lead to:
- Heaviness in the legs
- Swelling
- Aching or discomfort
- Tired legs after standing for long periods
Our veins are working against gravity every single day.
That’s why movement matters.
Walking, exercising, and avoiding sitting or standing still for too long can help circulation.
And if needed, ultrasound can be very useful to look at how the veins and blood flow are functioning beneath the surface. That is something health professionals can learn more about o. NorVue (celebrating their 5th anniversary today!)
Because sometimes, what we see on the outside…tells us something about what’s happening on the inside too.
