Tasbeeh Ahmed: Contemporary Treatment Strategies for Chronic Venous Disease
Tasbeeh Ahmed, Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Varicose veins are far more than a cosmetic concern.
They represent a progressive chronic venous disease that can lead to edema, skin changes, bleeding, superficial venous thrombosis, and venous ulceration if left untreated.
As vascular surgeons, our focus has shifted from simply removing veins to understanding venous hemodynamics, identifying the true source of reflux, and providing minimally invasive, evidence-based treatment.
This infographic summarizes:
- Venous anatomy relevant to varicose vein disease
- Pathophysiology of venous reflux
- CEAP classification
- Duplex ultrasound assessment
- Current guideline-directed treatment options
- Causes of recurrent varicose veins
- Key surgical and endovenous concepts
Modern management is driven by accurate duplex mapping and targeted treatment of pathological reflux using techniques such as EVLA, RFA, cyanoacrylate closure, and mechanochemical ablation.
What do you think will be the next major advancement in venous disease management?”
