Christopher Robinson: Early Cytokine Signals in Amniotic Fluid Embolism

Christopher Robinson, Executive Chair at the Foundation for the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine, Associate Professor of Maternal-Fetal Medicine at the University of South Carolina, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Roberto Romero et al, published in American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, adding:

“A subclinical cytokine storm is present before the clinical diagnosis of amniotic fluid embolism: implications for the prediction and prevention of maternal death – Plasma concentrations of cytokines in patients at term in labor and before the diagnosis of amniotic fluid embolism (blue asterisk) and at the time of diagnosis (red dot).”
