Abdallah M. Ibrahim: Evolving Hemophilia Care – How Do We Choose the Right Biomarkers?
Abdallah M. Ibrahim, Senior Medical Student at Alexandria University, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in ASIDE, adding:
“Glad to share another research publication that our narrative review, ‘Biomarkers in Hemophilia: Diagnostic, Prognostic, and Treatment-Selection Utility,’ has been published in American Society for Inclusion, Diversity, and Equity in Healthcare (ASIDE) Internal medicine (Vol. 2, No. 5, 2026).
Hemophilia care is evolving fast:
Extended half-life therapies, non-factor treatments, and gene therapy are changing what’s possible, but that progress raises a real question: how do we select the right biomarkers to guide diagnosis, risk stratification, and treatment choice?
Our review synthesized the literature from 2000 to 2025, covering established tools (FVIII/FIX activity assays, inhibitor testing, genotyping, imaging-based joint assessment) alongside emerging candidates like global hemostasis assays and inflammatory biomarkers linked to joint disease.
The conclusion is honest: evidence in this space is still heterogeneous, and most non-traditional markers remain exploratory pending standardized, multicenter validation.”
