James Morrissey: A Special Issue Celebrating Armando D’Angelo’s Scientific Legacy

James Morrissey, Professor at University of Michigan Medical School, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“The journal, BTVB, just published a special issue dedicated to the memory of our wonderful colleague, Armando D’Angelo, who sadly passed away in 2024.

Many thanks to Franco Piovella and the late Chuck Esmon for editing this issue.

I couldn’t read Franco’s tribute to Armando without a tear in my eye.

We were honored to publish our study entitled ‘Trypsin is as procoagulant as factor XIIa,’ as part of this special issue.

I like to think Armando would have enjoyed our take on helping to explain how factor XII can contribute to thrombosis but not hemostasis.

We also point out that trypsin has at least as much procoagulant activity as factor XIIa (and, in fact, the ability of trypsin to clot plasma has been known for more than 100 years).”
