Julia Barr: Blood Donation, Banter, and a Tunnock’s Teacake
Julia Barr, Principal Commercial Manager and Armed Forces Families Lead at Mott MacDonald, shared post on LinkedIn:
“After being banned for a year due to low haemoglobin last time, it felt good to be back at Scottish National Blood Transfusion Service Glasgow Donor Centre to donate a pint of my finest.
I’ll do anything for an uninterrupted sit-down!
Alas, it was a very quick donation – twice as fast as last time – so not quite the rest I’d been looking forward to.
If you’re eligible to donate, do sign up at scotblood.co.uk, blood.co.uk or your local equivalent.
Appointments are often available at convenient times – mine was after working hours – and it is mostly painless. The worst part of it is ripping the plaster off afterwards…
Big thanks to the donation team for looking after me and welcoming me back, especially Yash (venepuncturist) for the banter!
Top tip: don’t eat a Tunnock’s Teacake whilst trying to avoid smudging your lipstick – it really isn’t elegant.”
