Laboratory Testing and Interpretation in Modern Haemophilia Care – South African Haemophilia Foundation

“International Faculty: Dr Annette Bowyer
As haemophilia treatment evolves, laboratory science must evolve alongside it.
We are pleased to welcome Dr Annette Bowyer, Consultant Clinical Scientist at Sheffield Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, to MASAC 2026.
Dr Bowyer brings international expertise in coagulation testing, the diagnosis of inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, and the laboratory implications of emerging haemophilia therapies.
Her contributions to the programme include:
- 10h25–10h50: Leveraging laboratory data and expertise to improve care
- 12h10–12h30: Special situation laboratory testing: heavy menstrual bleeding investigations, borderline VWF and genetic testing
- 14h50–15h20: Non-factor therapies: special laboratory considerations
Her sessions will address the practical interface between laboratory results, clinical interpretation and patient management.
