Hélène Gleitz-Broeders: How MPNs Reshape the Bone Marrow Microenvironment

Hélène Gleitz-Broeders, Assistant Professor, Developmental Biology at Erasmus MC, shared an insightful post on LinkedIn:

“A proud junior PI moment!

I’m thrilled that both of my PhD students, Iris Bakker and Tesa Klenovšek, have received ASH Abstract Achievement Awards for their work that will be presented at this year’s American Society of Hematology meeting in New Orleans.

Their work investigates how myeloproliferative neoplasms reshape the tissues that support blood formation:

Iris Bakker: Distinct transcriptional and epigenetic remodeling of bone marrow stromal subsets in MPN is partially reversible by azacitidine

Tesa Klenovšek: Myeloproliferative neoplasms induce compartment-specific remodeling across the skull-brain axis

These projects highlight the importance of understanding not only the malignant blood cells themselves, but also how disease alters their surrounding microenvironments and affect MPN patients’ quality of life.

If you’re attending ASH and would like to learn more, please stop by our posters, find us during the meeting, or reach out beforehand!

We are looking forward to discussing exciting science in MPNs and hematology with colleagues from around the world.

See you in New Orleans!”
