Vera Ignjatović: Paediatric Thrombosis and Haemostasis Takes Centre Stage in Serbia
Vera Ignjatović, Founder and Managing Director at Ignis Innovations Pty Ltd, Principal Consultant of Translational Research at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“What a privilege to come home to Serbia!
I had the honour of delivering a plenary lecture on Paediatric Thrombosis and Haemostasis at the 8th Transfusion Medicine Congress of Serbia and 3rd International Congress of the Transfusion Medicine Association of Serbia (Udruženje Transfuziologa Srbije), held 29–31 October 2026 at the Sava Centar with the support of the International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT).
Presenting in the country where I was born, to a room full of passionate clinicians, scientists, and transfusion specialists, felt like a full circle moment.
Thank you to the TMAS/UTS for the invitation, second-to-none hospitality, and an outstanding meeting. Special thanks to the Congress President Academician Prof. Emeritus Bela Balint, Organising Committee President Prim. Dr Ana Momčilović, and Scientific Committee President Prof. Branislava Belić.
And a super special thank you to my dear friend Prim. Dr Mirjana Kovac, Congress Vice President, with whom I had the great joy of co-chairing the Haemostasis session.
- Three action-packed days of impressive science, including Gopićs such as:
- EU harmonisation of blood services
- Antithrombin deficiency and trauma-induced coagulopathy
Patient blood management
It was wonderful to meet so many new friends from Serbia, across the Balkans, and beyond!
The conversations, and social events were every bit as exciting as the sessions. The Congress party was like no other, with three hours of non-stop dancing!
I leave Belgrade full of ideas, and very much look forward to continuing the conversations and turning them into impact.
Thank you from the bottom of my heart, Belgrade! Until next time!”
