Augustina Isioma Ikusemoro, Hematology and Transfusion Medicine Specialist at Sharjah Blood Transfusion and Research Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“PBM wareness week 2026 | day 3
Every millilitre of blood saved can matter!
Blood conservation is a fundamental pillar of Patient Blood Management (PBM).
Preventable blood loss, whether from surgery, repeated diagnostic sampling or clinical procedures, can contribute to hospital-acquired anaemia and increase transfusion requirements.
Simple, evidence-based interventions can make a meaningful difference in preserving patients blood and improving outcomes.
Effective blood conservation begins with preventing avoidable blood loss, not simply replacing it.
What blood-conservation strategy has made the greatest impact in your healthcare facility?”
