Shamee Shastry: Improving the Reliability and Reproducibility of the Monocyte Monolayer Assay
Shamee Shastry, Professor, Head of the Department of Immunohematology and Blood Transfusion at Kasturba Medical College, Manipal, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, Journal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, adding:
”Monocyte Monolayer Assay: Reliable results begin with getting the details right.
Proud to share our work on standardizing a Functional Cellular Assay to support assessment of the clinical significance of red cell alloantibodies.
From a comprehensive literature review to 12 systematic laboratory trials, our team refined key steps to improve monocyte yield, minimize cell lysis, and achieve clearer, reproducible interpretation.
Congratulations to Kavya Babu, Deepika Chenna. Your hard work, dedication, and perseverance have truly paid off.”
