Arwa Z. Al-Riyami: Opportunities for Transfusion Medicine Education Support
Arwa Z. Al-Riyami, Board Member of Oman Medical Journal, Forum Editor at International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT), shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Looking to strengthen transfusion medicine education in your region?
I have just completed the review of ISBT Academy applications for the Eastern Mediterranean region!
The International Society of Blood Transfusion (ISBT) Academy provides support to organizations delivering high-quality educational activities that advance transfusion medicine and cellular therapies worldwide.
Through the Academy, eligible organizations can apply for:
- Financial support for educational activities such as workshops, training courses, symposia, and congresses
- ISBT Highlight Days, bringing expert ISBT speakers and congress content to local meetings
- Permission to use the ISBT logo for eligible educational activities
- ISBT endorsement of established educational courses
Who is eligible?
- Established organizations (not individuals or commercial companies)
- Organizations in low-, lower-middle-, and upper-middle-income countries may apply for financial support.
- Organizations in high-income countries may apply for funding when it supports participants from eligible lower-income countries, and may also apply for ISBT logo use or course endorsement.
Application deadlines (2026 onwards):
- 1 March
- 1 July
- 1 November
Applications should be submitted at least four months before the planned event to allow sufficient time for review.
If your organization is planning an educational initiative that will strengthen transfusion medicine practice, this is an excellent opportunity to obtain ISBT Academy support!
