Aryabhatta Sadhu: Honoured to Speak at The 5th European Congress on Hematology and Blood Disorders
Aryabhatta Sadhu, Attending Consultant and Head of Transfusion Medicine at Fortis Hospital Shalimar Bagh, New Delhi, shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Honoured to have been invited to speak at the 5th European Congress on Hematology and Blood Disorders in Barcelona, where I will present our work on predicting platelet transfusion refractoriness at the bedside.
This is a topic I care about deeply because the problem is not abstract.
It affects real patients who are already fragile – patients with hematologic malignancies, bleeding risk, marrow failure, transplant-related complexity, and repeated transfusion dependence.
When platelet support fails, the consequences are immediate: delayed hemostasis, procedural setbacks, prolonged hospitalization, and in some cases avoidable clinical deterioration.
That is why I believe this question matters: can we recognize refractoriness earlier, before the patient pays the price?
Our goal is to move from reactive transfusion support to a more predictive, patient-centred, and scientifically grounded approach – one that improves decision-making at the bedside and preserves scarce blood resources for those who need them most.
For me, hematology is where biology meets urgency.
The challenge is to translate data into safer care, and that is exactly the kind of conversation I am glad to contribute to in Barcelona.”
