”This week is Global ITP Awareness Week.
ITP affects individuals in different ways, and no two patients will have the same disease experience.
I was fortunate enough last week to join many others committed to ITP to discuss personalized medicine for ITP.
On the largest scale, personalized medicine represents providing whole-person health that is individualized and tailored to each patient’s lived experience.
On the smallest scale, it means developing novel and targeted therapies based on a patient’s individual pathophysiology and genetics.
I am excited to continue working toward personalized medicine for ITP alongside so many outstanding colleagues and patient advocates. Collectively, we can continue to move toward care that truly recognizes and responds to the individual patient.”

For people living with ITP, awareness goes beyond simply knowing the name of a disease.
Awareness drives understanding.
Understanding creates support. And support can help improve the lives of people living with ITP.
Because ITP is a rare disease, many people have never heard of it until they or someone they know receives a diagnosis.
This can contribute to feelings of uncertainty and isolation.
Awareness helps connect people with information, resources, and community support.
