“Five concrete ways to advocate for sickle cell disease this week — pick one, or do all five:

Donate blood. If you’re eligible, especially if you’re Black, schedule an appointment through the Red Cross. Closely matched blood saves lives directly.
Contact your legislator. One email or call about protecting federal SCD program funding takes ten minutes (see Tuesday’s post for exactly how).
Give locally. A donation to ASCAA or the MCS Foundation goes directly toward services here in Cleveland.
Share accurate information. Repost something from SCDAA, Sick Cells, or another verified source instead of letting myths fill the gap.
Ask your workplace about it. Many employers will match donations or host a giving campaign during Awareness Month if someone simply asks.

None of these require special expertise. They just require deciding to do them.
