Dimitrios Kontothanassis: The Role of Thermal Ablation in GSV Reflux Treatment – LIVE 2026
Dimitrios Kontothanassis, Director of the Italian Phlebology Institute, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“It was a true honor to participate in LIVE 2026 (Leading Innovation Vascular Education) in Thessaloniki, Greece, and to present on the leading role of thermal ablative therapies in the treatment of great saphenous vein reflux.
Although endovenous thermal ablation remains a cornerstone in the treatment of varicose vein disease, it is increasingly important to clearly define the role of each thermal and tumescent technology — including Laser and Radiofrequency — as well as emerging thermal and non-tumescent modalities such as HIFU.
It was a pleasure to engage in such a stimulating debate and exchange ideas with internationally renowned colleagues on the priorities and evolving strategies in venous disease management.
Chronic venous disease remains, for many patients, a long-term condition that cannot yet be definitively cured, making continuous innovation and scientific collaboration essential.”
