Kate Thomas: One Hour, One Donation, One Life Saved
Paul Bickley, former Vice President, Communications and Corporate Affairs at Intact Insurance UK, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Yesterday a photo of me made the national news as part of an amazing story.
A small act on my part – costing nothing more than an hour – contributed to saving the life of an unborn baby.
Mind – blowing and miraculous.
Seeing it in print was surreal, with friends and colleagues messaging to say they’d seen it before I had.
Even my dentist paused my kids’ appointment to excitingly show me her phone with it on!
People seemed genuinely moved by the story, and more than one shared the same perspective:
However different we look or sound and wherever we are in the world, it’s the same blood that connects us.
Having spent the last year leading Corporate Affairs, I know this kind of coverage takes a huge effort to earn attention and cut through.
The NHS Blood team did a fantastic job, securing coverage across print, online and radio – all to raise awareness and encourage more
people to donate.
Pics of the print copy in The Times and The Mirror above. And here is the donor-focused story from the NHS Blood team
If you can, please think about giving blood: it’s a simple act on your part which could save someone’s life.
Drop me a message or have a look at Blood.
Small acts of kindness really do make the world go round. Happy donating! ”
Kate Thomas, Assistant Director of Communications at NHS Blood and Transplant, shared Paul Bickley’s post on LinkedIn:
“Thank you Paul Bickley for donating blood and being part of this amazing story about how donors like you save lives.”
