Leonard Valentino, Former President and CEO of NBDF, President of WFH USA, reposted from Michael Recht on LinkedIn:
”The National Bleeding Disorders Foundation was fortunate to have benefited from your vision, passion and leadership.
In a short time, you have made significant contributions to the success of Bleeding Disorders Research Collaborative and Pathway to Cures.
Your impact on the bleeding disorders community is substantial, and I know that you will continue to strive to improve outcomes, equity and quality of life for all people living with bleeding and blood disorders.
It has been a true pleasure for me to have worked closely with you over the years, and I look forward to continued collaboration opportunities.”
Quoting Michael Recht‘s post:
”I will be departing my role as Chief Medical and Scientific Officer at the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation (NBDF) effective December 31, 2025.
What stands out most from my time at NBDF is the people and the collective commitment to strengthening research, elevating lived experience, and advancing care across the bleeding disorders community.
I am especially grateful to Maria E Santaella, Vice President of Research Strategy, for her extraordinary partnership.
Her vision, rigor, and humanity shaped the evolution of the Bleeding Disorders Research Collaborative into an enterprise focused on impact, trust, and meaningful community engagement.
To the entire NBDF research team, Samantha Carlson, LMSW, Halli Benasutti, Matthew Hartnett, and Naomi Miller, your dedication to improving quality of life through research for all individuals impacted by inheritable bleeding disorders inspires me.
My sincere thanks also go to Leonard Valentino, whose leadership and advocacy for the Bleeding Disorders Research Collaborative, a transformative research infrastructure, rooted in Health Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, Belonging, and Accessibility, and elevating Lived Experience Experts at every stage of the research process, has been a defining privilege of my career.
Pathway to Cures, NBDF’s venture philanthropy fund, continues to catalyze innovation across the inheritable blood and bleeding disorders landscape.
I am thankful for the time I have worked with Teri F. Willey and Tim Brent for their visionary leadership.
I also want to recognize the NBDF’s Education, Advocacy, and HASI teams, whose continued work empowers individuals and families, amplifies community voices, and translates science into knowledge, access, and action.
Their efforts remain essential to progress in this field. And to our collaborators and funders: thank you for your partnership and commitment to our research mission.
Looking forward, I will continue my clinical and research work as Professor of Clinical Pediatrics at the Yale Center for Bleeding and Clotting Disorders.
I am excited and remain available to work alongside individuals, researchers, start-ups, biotech innovators, and pharmaceutical partners who are passionate about advancing care in the field of inheritable bleeding and blood disorders.
I am hopeful and energized by the momentum in our field and deeply committed to improving outcomes, equity, and quality of life for all individuals with inheritable bleeding disorders.
If you would like to connect or collaborate, I welcome the conversation.”
