Maha Othman: Celebrating National Medical Laboratory Week in Canada
Maha Othman, Research Co-Lead at the CanVECTOR Research Network and Co-Chair of the SSC on Disseminated Intravascular Coagulation at the International Society on Thrombosis and Haemostasis (ISTH), shared a post on LinkedIn:
”Celebrating National Medical Laboratory Week in Canada
Delighted to celebrate National Medical Laboratory Week and recognize the vital contributions of Medical Laboratory Professionals in Canada and across the globe.
Your work-often behind the scenes-is central to patient care and research.
Happy Lab Week
Thanks to a talented MLS Brittany Larkin; a mentee from Saint John, HorizonNB for the kind invitation to your lunch and learn event.
Congratulations Brittany on being accepted to Dalhousie University Medical School
I hope to continue to contribute to this exciting journey.
It was a pleasure to deliver a talk on:
‘Clots in Women with Cancer: How Laboratory Science Illuminates Thrombosis Risk.’
On a personal note, I am deeply grateful to all Medical Laboratory Professionals I’ve had the privilege to work with over more than two decades-across the Clinical Pathology Department at Mansoura University (Egypt), University of Southampton (UK), and Canada Queen’s University – spanning both clinical and research settings. It is difficult to name individuals, but your impact has been immense.
I am equally proud of Medical Laboratory Science graduates and trainees from St. Lawrence College who were trained in our SLC research lab.
Great to see you contributing across the country.
A special shoutout to dedicated international medical laboratory scientists navigating their careers in Canada with resilience and determination: Maica Jhiezl, Yunon Caroline Mwubaha, Olawumi Olaide Oyewo you are all an asset to our healthcare system.
And to my LinkedIn intelligent more recent mentees: Simon Senanu and Nastasya Nunki, Masresha Seyoum-your talent, curiosity, and commitment to sharing knowledge will undoubtedly take you far.
A special shoutout to an amazing Med Lab Scientist, colleague, highly accomplished leader and driver of change: Karen A. Moffat.
To all Medical Laboratory Professionals across the: thank you for what you do every day.”
