”Launching The First Centralised Nigerian National Stroke Registry on the World Stroke Day October 29 2025
Quality is not an accident, It is the result of an Intelligent Effort: John Ruskin
British Philosopher
We’re proud to announce the launch of the Nigerian National Stroke Registry (NNSR) — a nationwide, clinician-led initiative designed to improve understanding, management, and outcomes of stroke across the country.
Stroke remains the second leading cause of death in Nigeria with a probable estimate of 1000-2000 strokes per day and, yet the absence of a centralized data system has long hindered effective care and planning.
The NNSR aims to change this by collecting comprehensive, standardized data from hospitals and clinics nationwide — supporting better research, policy, and clinical practice.
This phased registry, governed by the Nigerian Stroke Organization (NSO) and Nigerian Society of Neurological Sciences will:
- Document the true burden and outcomes of stroke in Nigeria
- Drive data-informed care, prevention, and rehabilitation strategies
- Support capacity building and advocacy for stroke services
- Lay the foundation for collaborative research and innovation
By building this registry, we’re taking a vital step toward reducing stroke-related deaths and disability, improving patient outcomes, and strengthening Nigeria’s health system.
Join us as we build a future where every stroke counts and every life matters.
If you want to collaborate and support in whatever way.
Pls do reach me personally.
It’s a collective effort of everyone interested in improved stroke outcome in Nigeria
