Rajaa Arnaout: Platelet Removal and the Brain’s Neural Stem Cell Niche

Rajaa Arnaout, Biomedical Science Student at the University of Westminster, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Hitting ‘submit’ on my dissertation now feels like a distant memory, but I still remember that final click so clearly.

Looking back, it’s hard to believe how quickly time has flown. My dissertation, ‘Investigation of the Effects of Platelet Removal on the Brain’s Neural Stem Cell Niche’, marked one of the most challenging yet rewarding parts of my degree. There were moments of doubt, long nights, and plenty of pressure — but also a huge amount of learning and growth that came with it.

Now that I’ve received my results, I feel an overwhelming sense of pride in what I’ve achieved. Not just for the final outcome, but for the persistence it took to get there in the first place.

I’m especially grateful to my supervisor, Ilias Kazanis, for his guidance, patience, and support throughout the process; it genuinely shaped this journey.

A chapter I’ll always look back on with pride… and a reminder of how far I’ve come.”
