Rob Maloney: Why Global Diagnosis is the Missing Piece in Bleeding Disorder Care
Rob Maloney, Chief Executive Officer of Hemophilia of Georgia, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“At a recent World Federation of Hemophilia conference, leaders from more than 130 countries gathered to discuss the future of bleeding disorder care.
There were presentations on new therapies.
Research breakthroughs.
Global partnerships.
All important.
But one statistic stayed with me.
Not treatment.
Diagnosis.
Worldwide, hundreds of thousands of people living with bleeding disorders still have not been identified.
Think about that for a moment.
You cannot treat a condition that hasn’t been diagnosed.
You cannot connect a family to resources they don’t know exist.
You cannot provide hope to someone who doesn’t yet have a name for what they’re experiencing.
For all the innovation happening in healthcare, diagnosis remains one of our greatest opportunities.
That’s true globally.
It’s also true here at home.
One of our goals is to help connect people with bleeding disorders to diagnosis, care, and resources as early as possible.
Because behind every diagnosis is a family looking for answers.
And often, the most important step in their journey isn’t treatment.
It’s finally knowing what they’ve been dealing with all along.”
