Rucha Patil: Health Technology Assessment and the Future of Haemophilia Care in India at NHU 2026
Rucha Patil, Scientist at Department of Haemostasis and Thrombosis, ICMR- National Institute of Immunohaematology, shared on LinkedIn:
“One of the most engaging sessions at the 15th National Haemostasis Update 2026 (1–2 August, Bengaluru) organised by Indian Association for Haemophilia and Allied Disorders was on HTA Assessment: Indian Scenario (DHR-ICMR session)
The session featured:
- Dr. Kavita Rajshekar – an excellent overview of HTA in India, its framework, implementation, and impact.
- My presentation – the multicentre pooled emicizumab data from 773 Indian patients.
- Dr. Sitanshu Sekhar Kar – a comprehensive explanation of the HTA model, key assumptions, budget impact, and decision-making process.
It was a privilege to share the stage with distinguished experts and present the Indian pooled analysis of 773 patients with hemophilia A receiving emicizumab prophylaxis, which formed an important part of the Health Technology Assessment undertaken by the JIPMER HTA team under HTAIn, Department of Health Research (DHR), Government of India.
The thought-provoking discussion and numerous questions from the audience highlighted the growing importance of Health Technology Assessment (HTA) in translating robust clinical evidence into informed healthcare policy and improving patient access.
Grateful to the organizers for including this important session in an outstanding scientific program.”
