“How to hunt for Hemoglobinopathies traits:
- Each CBC is a chance to filter trait ( Erythrocytosis, mild anemia with microcytosis, normal RDW cv – in contrass with normal iron studies),
- High index of suspesion, keep a hawk eye and safe future generations,
- Prime focus on all family members of a child with transfusion dependent anemia ( frequency is very high as compare to general population),
- A new couple for pre marital genetic counciling,
- A couple planning for pregnancy,
- A handy HPLC analyzer with good interpretation skills.”
