”There are people who don’t just advocate for better stroke care—they quietly dedicate years of their lives to making it happen.
Today I had the privilege of listening to the incredible Antonia Arfaras open the National Stroke Quality Improvement Workshop.
Toni shared not only her professional expertise, but also her own lived experience of stroke and multiple TIAs.
It was a powerful reminder that quality improvement isn’t just about guidelines, indicators and systems. It’s about people, families and lives forever changed.
One message really stayed with me: the work doesn’t stop when someone leaves hospital.
As someone living with the long-term effects of stroke, I’m grateful for people like Toni who continue to push for better rehabilitation, better support and better outcomes for all of us.
