Shayan Mohammadmoradi: ZEUS Trial-Inflammation Reduction Without Fewer Cardiovascular Events
Shayan Mohammadmoradi, Vascular Biology and Platelet Function Scientist at University of Kentucky, CEO at Moradi Enterprise, shared American Heart Association‘s post on LinkedIn:
“ZEUS at ScientificSessions26: monthly ziltivekimab cut free IL-6 by 76 percent and hs-CRP by 64 percent in 6,376 patients with ASCVD plus CKD.
3-point MACE: 17.6 percent vs 17.7 percent (HR 0.99).
Serious infections: 20.4 percent vs 17.9 percent.
Hitting the target didn’t lower events.
The point is neutral trials teach as much as positive ones so the question now is which patients, which target, and when.
Of course, Inflammation is still a valid target. Zeus tells us where it isn’t enough on its own.
