Managing Acute Emergencies in Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease – TIF
Thalassaemia International Federation (TIF) posted on LinkedIn:
“Sneak Preview – A major new TIF publication is coming soon!
We are excited to share the cover of the 2nd edition of the ‘Guidelines for the Emergency Management of Thalassaemia and Sickle Cell Disease’.
Building on TIF’s 2012 publication, this edition has been thoroughly revised, updated, and significantly expanded. Importantly, its scope now includes Sickle Cell Disease alongside Thalassaemia.
Developed to bridge specialist Haemoglobinopathy Care and Emergency Medicine, the guide offers a practical framework to help healthcare professionals:
- Recognise important emergency presentations
- Undertake appropriate initial assessments and investigations
- Initiate urgent management
- Identify when specialist involvement or escalation of care is required
The publication brings together expertise from emergency medicine and haematology and is intended for emergency physicians, nurses, haematologists, paediatricians, trainees, and other healthcare professionals.
Watch this space and follow TIF’s channels for more previews, updates and the official release announcement!”
