Tom McKinnon: The Conversations That Continue Beyond ISTH 2026
Tom McKinnon, Associate Professor of Thrombosis and Haemostasis at Imperial College London, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Well another ISTH meeting over! I always feel strangely melancholy at the end of the ISTH; glad to be going home, but a bit sad the meeting is over.
Its such a wonderful opportunity to meet with old friends and colleagues and make new ones. And of course to see some outstanding science and discuss new thoughts and ideas and form new collaborations.
It was wonderful to see so much participation from the vascular and Thrombosis and haemostasis groups at Imperial and to see Prof. Mike Laffan receive his award.
A huge well done to my post doc Golzar Mobayen who presented her work on Wednesday morning, so proud of you as always. I was also flattered to co-chair the contemporary issues in VTE session on Tuesday afternoon, massively out of my comfort zone!
And to give my own oral presentation on Wednesday.
Also great to see, was the amazing work from my dear friend Roger Preston and his excellent group. And to catch up with the brilliant Cédric Duval and equally brilliant Fraser Macrae.
Too many other people to mention and I’ll miss someone, but great to see Keith Gomez, Vince Jenkins, Valance Washington, Susan Shea Chris Gardiner.
Thanks to Steve Kitchen and Ian Burns for sorting the annual football match, and always a pleasure to share time with the wonderful Sysmex folk, and the boys and girls from Sheffield, Lee Beckett etc.
And well done to Megan Preece for her brilliant football skills and all the team from Austria!
Here’s to the next meeting!”
