Claire Auditeau: Thrilled to Share a Major Milestone From My PhD Journey!
Claire Auditeau, Medical Biologist – University Hospital Assistant at Greater Paris University Hospitals, shared on LinkedIn:
”Thrilled to share a major milestone from my PhD journey!
Our paper “Protein S Enhances the Phagocytosis of Phosphatidylserine-Exposing Erythrocytes: Implications in Sickle Cell Disease” has just been published in the American Journal of Hematology.
Our research has revealed that protein S significantly enhances the phagocytosis of phosphatidylserine-exposing erythrocytes and eryghosts.
This discovery is particularly significant for SCD patients, as we demonstrated that the accumulation of pro-coagulant and adherent eryghosts in circulation likely contributes to the pathogenesis of the disease.
These insights not only deepen our understanding of red blood cell clearance but also pave the way for exciting future therapeutic applications.
This four-year journey, at the crossroads of hemostasis and red blood cell biology, was made possible through a wonderful collaboration between HITh and BioTIGR.
