Shytasia was at work when she suddenly experienced unexpected sensory impairment—a concerning symptom that led her to seek urgent medical attention.
However, upon arriving at the hospital, her symptoms were initially dismissed, a reality too many patients face when early warning signs of serious conditions are overlooked.
Thanks to NBCA Shytasia joined support groups, and today, she is channeling her experience into a mission of self-advocacy, awareness, and healing.
Her story underscores the importance of listening to patients, recognizing atypical presentations, and ensuring that no concern is minimized—especially when it comes to blood clot-related disorders.
