Afshan Sumera: Plasma Proteomics Reveals Complement And Coagulation Disruption In Transfusion-Dependent Thalassemia
Afshan Sumera, Principal Lecturer in Medical Sciences at University of Lancashire, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in Advances in Hematology, adding:
“I am pleased to share that my research article, ‘Proteomic Evidence of Complement and Coagulation Pathway Dysregulation in Transfusion-Dependent Thalassemia’, has been published in Advances in Hematology.
This study explored the plasma proteome of patients with transfusion-dependent thalassemia using LC-MS/MS proteomic analysis and identified significant alterations in complement and coagulation pathways.
This publication represents an important outcome of my PhD research journey and reflects years of work in study design, sample collection, laboratory analysis, data interpretation, manuscript preparation, and peer review.
I would like to express my sincere gratitude to my supervisors Prof Aziz Baba, Prof Ammu K Radhakrishnan and Prof Soon Keng Cheong, collaborators, and all patients and families who participated in this research. Their support and contributions made this work possible.
