Ali Sohail: Presenting GI Bleeding and AI Research at DDW 2026
Ali Sohail, Internal Medicine Resident at Staten Island University Hospital, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Had a wonderful time at Digestive Disease Week (DDW) in Chicago last weekend!
I had the opportunity to present two projects: a meta-analysis showing machine learning outperforms traditional risk scores in predicting mortality in GI bleeding, and a multi-center study finding that admission creatinine, not anticoagulant class, predicts in-hospital mortality in anticoagulated upper GI bleeding patients.
Connecting with others about their work, perspectives, and where they see the field heading, alongside witnessing firsthand the technologies shaping its future, made this a truly unforgettable experience.
This left me more excited than ever about the future of GI, advanced endoscopy, and the impact of AI on this ever growing field, and I can’t wait for the opportunity to soon be a part of shaping it!
None of this would have been possible without the support of an outstanding program at Staten Island University Hospital, incredible mentors, and co-residents who make the work that much more rewarding.
Grateful to be where I am.
Looking forward to next year!”
