Angela Fan: Highlighting the Significant Burden Faced by Patients Living With PV
Angela Fan, Lead Health Economics and Outcomes Research in Oncology, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Expert Review of Hematology, adding:
“Excited to share our latest publication.
Our systematic literature review highlights the significant burden faced by patients living with polycythemia vera (PV), who continue to experience substantial risks of thrombosis, disease progression, impaired quality of life, and increased healthcare utilization despite current standards of care, underscoring a critical unmet medical need for more effective and durable treatment options.
Achieving and maintaining hematocrit control is critical in PV, yet many patients continue to experience the ongoing burden of disease management, thrombotic and disease progression risks, and quality-of-life impacts, highlighting the need for more effective and durable management strategies.
Special thanks to Dr. Naveen Pemmaraju and Dr. Kristen Pettit for their scientific leadership and collaboration in bringing this work to publication.
Thank you to all co-authors for their partnership and contributions throughout this project. I look forward to the continued discussion on how evidence can be translated into meaningful impact for patients and healthcare systems.”
