Eman Badr: From Platelets to Precision Oncology
Eman Badr, Associate Professor of Zewail City of Science and Technology, shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored published in Discver Oncology, adding:
“A new paper from our group is now out in Discover Oncology:
‘Integrative analysis of tumor-educated platelets for stage-specific diagnosis, prognosis, and therapy in ovarian cancer’
In this study, we explored tumor-educated platelet mRNAs as a non-invasive source for ovarian cancer biomarker discovery.
We used an integrative computational framework that included differential expression analysis, machine learning, survival analysis, pathway enrichment, and in silico drug screening.
The study identified stage-specific candidate biomarkers and potential drug repurposing opportunities in ovarian cancer.
This work is special as it reflects the effort and persistence of my students, especially Shaimaa Gamal , who led this project as part of her MSc work, together with Mostafa Ibrahim.
I am very proud of them for their hard work, patience, and commitment throughout this journey.”
