Irene Scala: The Sex Disparities In Access to Acute Stroke Treatments In Italy
Irene Scala, Neurologist at Carlo Besta Neurological Institute IRCCS Foundation, Neurocritical Care Scientific Panel Member of European Academy of Neurology, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article she and her colleagues co-authored, published in European Stroke Journal, adding:
”Out now in the European Stroke Journal!
Take a look at our new work exploring sex disparities in access to acute stroke treatments in Italy.
We found that, even though treatment rates were similar between men and women, women experienced longer door-to-needle times, highlighting that important inequalities still persist along the acute stroke pathway.
Research like this is crucial to better identify and reduce sex-related barriers in stroke care, with the goal of ensuring more equitable and timely treatment for all patients.”
