Harmonizing Bleeding Outcomes in Hemophilia – JTH
Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis (JTH) shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article, by Alok Srivastava et al., adding:
“Recommendations for harmonizing definition, recording, and reporting of the annual bleeding rate in hemophilia: communication from the ISTH SSC Subcommittee on Factor VIII, Factor IX and Rare Coagulation Disorders
Consistent bleeding outcomes are essential for comparing hemophilia therapies. This ISTH SSC communication provides a revised definition of joint bleeding and recommendations for recording and reporting bleeding events, including the observation period and calculation of bleeding rates.
The authors address differences in how studies identify, classify, and summarize bleeds. Harmonized terminology and reporting could improve interpretation across clinical trials, registries, and practice, supporting more informed comparisons and shared decision-making.”
