Manish Raturi: Does Patient Type Matter in Massive Blood Transfusion?
Manish Raturi, Additional Professor in Transfusion Medicine at AIIMS Nagpur, Maharashtra, shared on LinkedIn about a recent article he and his colleagues co-authored, published in Global Journal of Transfusion Medicine, adding:
”Our research ‘Compliance and Outcome Analysis of Massive Blood Transfusion Protocol (MBTP) Activation in Trauma vs Nontrauma Patients,’ is now published in the Global Journal of Transfusion Medicine.
We found that trauma patients had significantly higher compliance with MBTP, and received more packed red blood cells, and demonstrated better survival compared with non-trauma massively bleeding patients, where protocol adherence was more variable.
These findings underscore the need for standardized MBTP implementation and continuous monitoring across both trauma and nontrauma settings to improve patient outcomes in any tertiary care hospital.”
