Mirko Prosen on Caregiver Training Using the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model for Stroke Home Care
Mirko Prosen, Associate Professor at University of Primorska Faculty of Health Sciences, shared on LinkedIn:
”I am proud to share that our latest study, “Quasi-Experimental Study of Caregiver Training Using the PRECEDE-PROCEED Model for Stroke Home Care,” has been published as a preprint in Nursing Research.
This study explored the effectiveness of a caregiver training program based on the PRECEDE–PROCEED Model, focusing on caregiving responses, social support, and patient outcomes in the context of stroke home care.
What we found:
– Caregivers showed significant improvements in caregiving responses and perceived social support.
– Patients experienced fewer complications such as aspiration, incontinence, falls, and pressure injuries.
– The training program notably reduced hospitalization rates over time.
These findings reinforce the meaningful impact of structured educational interventions on both caregivers and stroke patients receiving home care.
The PRECEDE–PROCEED Model proves to be a valuable framework for designing effective health education programs in this setting.
A special appreciation to co-authors Doc. Dr. Betül T. and Dr. Sümeyye Akçoban, whose collaboration were essential in bringing this research to life.”
