Quentin Brebant: What Defines a High-Quality Red Blood Cell Concentrate?

Quentin Brebant, Director of Research and Development at Macropharma, shared Macropharma’s post on LinkedIn:

“I’m very proud to have contributed to this study alongside EFS, INSERM and Anaïs.

Together, let’s help define the future of blood processing.”

Macropharma shared a post on LinkedIn:

“What defines a high-quality red blood cell concentrate?

A newly published study in Vox Sanguinis brings valuable insights into two key factors:

  • How haematocrit is measured
  • How additive solutions influence red blood cell preservation during storage

The results demonstrate that PAGGSM better preserves red blood cell morphology and reduces storage-induced micro-erythrocytes compared with SAGM.

For us, this publication is also a reminder that innovation in transfusion medicine is about the entire process, not just a single product.

From blood collection and processing to storage and quality control, every step matters.”
