Shaymaa Alhabib on Piezo1 Mutation and Platelet Preactivation State
Shaymaa Alhabib, Student at Bicêtre Hospital, shared on LinkedIn:
”I’m happy to share a study I participated in, now published in the Journal of Thrombosis and Haemostasis
This study shows that Piezo1 gain-of-function mutations prolong channel opening, leading to sustained calcium entry into platelets.
This primes platelets into a preactivated state, helping explain the thrombotic risk in hereditary xerocytosis patients.
A huge thanks to my supervisor Régis Bobe, for the opportunity to be part of this work, and of course to the group headed by Dr. Chrislla Bachelot-Loza for their excellent work!”
