Stephan A Mayer: Early Imaging Reveals Higher Risk of Hematoma Expansion After ICH
Stephan A Mayer, Neurointensivist, shared a post on X about a recent article by Jennifer A. Frontera et al., published in Neurocritical Care, adding:
”In this single center observational cohort study, ICH patients had a 20 percent risk of hematoma expansion overll.
In general the risk was greatest the earlier they were imaged, and was doubled among those on combination anticoagulation (i.e. DOAC, warfarin) and any form of antiplatelet therapy.
No other agent specific risks were uncovered.”
