Recurrent DVT and PE in Young Adults May Indicate an Underlying Cause – The Lancet Group
The Lancet Group shared a post on LinkedIn about a recent article by Fernando Javier Vazquez et al. published in The Lancet, adding:
” ‘Awareness of such rare but treatable conditions can improve outcomes.’
Deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and pulmonary embolism are uncommon in young adults without recognised risk factors, and recurrence should raise suspicion of overlooked underlying causes.
A recent Clinical Rounds article published in The Lancet explores the case of a 20-year-old athlete presenting with recurrent DVT and pulmonary embolism due to an uncommon cause.
